They run all around the incubator even with the egg however connected occasionally. I very recommend putting down a non-slip mat in the incubator for them. Quail chicks which have just hatched are nasty to one another. They peck and pull at the other chicks. They are attempting to find the other chicks up and moving in the event of danger way too.
